Purpose Under Pressure is nearly ready
I have written a book. That still feels slightly strange to say out loud.
Purpose Under Pressure: The governance conversations boards need now is nearly ready to make its way into the world.
It is a book for boards, Chairs, directors and leaders navigating complexity, pressure and change. It is not a technical governance manual or a compliance checklist. It is a book about the conversations boards need when the easy answers are not available, the stakes are high and judgement matters.
The book has grown out of my experience across regulation, boardrooms and organisations working under real scrutiny. Across those settings, I have seen how much governance quality depends not only on what boards know, but on what they are prepared to notice, question and discuss.
Purpose Under Pressure explores what boards notice, what they miss and how they can govern with more discipline before issues harden into crises. It looks at the moments when purpose, sustainability, assurance, structure, impact and accountability all come under pressure, and asks what boards need to bring into the room earlier.
The launch date is being finalised for late May 2026.
As part of the launch, I am putting together a small mailing list for people who would like to receive:
the launch link when the book is available
free companion resources for boards
occasional book updates as they go live
The companion resources are designed to help boards take the ideas from the book back into their own boardroom conversations. They include practical prompts and questions for boards navigating pressure, complexity and change.
Thank you to everyone who has asked about the book, read early sections, tested cover ideas with me or encouraged me to keep going.
This one has been a long time in the making.
